Ice Dogs Fall to Utah in Shootout, 5-4
Utah’s Danton Cole scored to tie the game, 4-4, in the third period, then Brett Lievers got the only goal in the shootout as the Grizzlies downed the Ice Dogs, 5-4, on Monday night.
Cole evened it on a power-play goal at 7:17 of the third period.
In the shootout, Ice Dog veteran goaltender David Littman replaced rookie Chuck Thuss, who had made his first start of the season. Littman held off the first four skaters, but was beaten on the left side when Lievers slipped it by for the Utah victory.
The loss overshadowed a three-goal game by the Ice Dogs’ Hubie McDonough, two of them scored in building a 3-0 first-period lead.
