Excessive speed may have been a factor in a North Hollywood traffic accident that killed a man after he slammed into a tow truck, Los Angeles police said.
Mike Weisbeck, 31, of North Hollywood, died in the Monday evening crash, LAPD Officer Leone Thomas said.
Witnesses told police that Weisbeck was driving south on Vineland Avenue, just north of Vanowen Street, when his car crossed into northbound traffic and slammed into a tow truck driven by David Bandel of Woodland Hills.
Bandel was treated at a hospital and released in good condition, police said.
