Russian Bank President Shot: The president of a Russian commercial bank was shot and critically wounded in what appeared to be the latest in a series of attempted contract killings, his colleagues said. Mikhail Zhuravlyov of Mosstroibank was shot twice in the head in Moscow on Tuesday as he walked from his apartment to the bank, Mosstroibank official Nikolai Nikolayev said. “The attacker came alongside him and fired two shots, then ran off,” Nikolayev told Reuters. He said Zhuravlyov was conscious after surgery. Police sources were quoted as saying that the shooting appeared to have been carried out by a professional hit man.
