BOVINE BINGO: Three cows are expected do their duty for a quirky fund-raiser Saturday morning at Mayfair High School in Lakewood.

Organizers plan to rope off the school’s football field and divide it into 3,000 plots, each of which can be claimed for $3. Then all eyes will turn to a calf and two full-grown cows.

The first person whose plot is sullied by a cow pie will win $250. The next two plots to be soiled will earn their ticket-holders even more cash, depending on how many tickets are sold.

Proceeds from the event, which also will include raffles and other fund-raisers, will be divided between the school’s football team and the family of David Smith, a 17-year-old Mayfair student and former football team member who was recently found to have cancer.

The cows will be on loan from Westminster High’s agriculture and farming department, which has provided cows for at least five similar fund-raisers this year.

Saturday’s event begins at 10 a.m. at the school at 6000 Woodruff Ave. Tickets can be purchased by calling (310) 925-4536.
