Alzheimer’s Organizer Radzins Dies

Carole G. Radzins, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Assn. of Orange County, died Friday of a cerebral aneurysm. She was 55.

“She will always be remembered for her service to the community,” said Linda Scheck, associate director of the Alzheimer’s Assn. “She helped expand programs and services which help thousands of families in our community. Carole will be sorely missed.”

Since 1993, Radzins served as executive director of the organization, which provides support to about 10,000 people a year. About 40,000 people in Orange County have Alzheimer’s disease.

Before joining the association, she was director of development for the Saddleback Hospital Memorial Foundation and executive director of the North Orange County YWCA.

Radzins received a bachelor’s degree from Rollins College in Florida and earned a master’s degree in public administration from Cal State Fullerton.

She is survived by her former husband, Egons J. Radzins of Orange; a son, John, of Orange; a daughter, Tamara, of San Diego; a sister, Linda Irvin, of Portland, Ore.; and a brother, Lee Gilbert, of Seattle. Memorial services will be at the Radzins family home on Nov. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m.
