Meeting Slated on Service Academies
Students interested in attending a national service academy are invited to an information session Friday at Oxnard High School.
The event is open to those age 17 to 21 who live in the 23rd Congressional District, which includes most of Ventura County. Admission is open to those who will be high school graduates by July 1.
Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) will conduct the event.
Academy liaison officers, currently enrolled cadets and members of Gallegly’s Academy Selection Board will discuss the admissions process and life at the academies.
The service academies include the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; U. S. Military Academy in West Point, N. Y.; U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N. Y.
The event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in the J Building at Oxnard High, 3400 W. Gonzalez Road, Oxnard.
