Birdseed--If you ordered wild birdseed mix or sunflower seeds from Sea & Sage Audubon, it’s pickup time.
The seed will be distributed in the parking lot next to the Audubon House on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To get to the Audubon House, take the San Diego Freeway to the Jamboree Road exit and head south. Turn left at Michelson Drive, then make a right at the second signal onto Irvine Ranch Water District property. Follow the paved road and “Duck Club” signs to the house.

Scary Canyon--The Oak Canyon Nature Center has scheduled its Halloween programs for children. Cost for each program per child is $3. Costumes, cameras and parents welcome. Space in these hourlong programs is limited.
The center is at 6700 Walnut Canyon Road in Anaheim. For more information, or to sign up for a program, call the Oak Canyon Nature Center at (714) 998-8380.
* Halloween Fun: Toddlers, ages 2 to 4. Activities help take the scariness out of Halloween. Children explore a trail, decorate cookies and make crafts. Tuesday, 10 a.m.
* Halloween Creepers: Tykes, ages 4 to 6. Learn about bats, tarantulas and owls. Crafts and cookie decorating. Tuesday, 1 p.m.
* Halloween Adventures: Youngsters, ages 6 to 12. Games, crafts and treats focus on the creepy and the ghoulish. Tuesday, 3:30 p.m.
Whereabouts: Take the Riverside Freeway to the Imperial Highway turnoff. Exit and head south to Nohl Ranch Road. Turn left and travel about three miles to Walnut Canyon Road, and turn left again. Pass the Anaheim Hills Golf Course; the nature center is at the end of the road. Parking is on the left.
