HUNTINGTON BEACH : Repaving of Beach Blvd. Set to Start

Share

Repaving work on Beach Boulevard from Ellis Avenue south to Pacific Coast Highway will begin Monday and may cause inconvenience to residents and motorists in the area.

But city officials said the result of the state-funded project will be a quieter, smoother boulevard with three lanes of traffic in each direction.

The intersections of Beach Boulevard at Garfield and Yorktown avenues will have turn arrows installed to allow left turns onto Beach. In some areas, new sidewalks will be built.

Construction is scheduled to end by Feb. 8, depending on weather conditions. No night work is expected.

The project is necessary because the existing highway surface is failing and has reached the end of its service life, city officials said.
