Agoura Hills : Council to Consider Taping More Meetings
Agoura Hills officials, who have ruled out as too costly televising City Council meetings live, are considering broadcasting more council meetings on a delayed basis.
The city now televises eight meetings a year, on a delayed basis, said City Manager Dave Adams. Ventura County Cablevision, under an agreement with the city, tapes and broadcasts those meetings at no cost to the city.
Adams has introduced a proposal to have a contractor tape the additional council meetings, which, based on current rates, would cost about $400 apiece.
He recommends doing it on a trial basis, then reviewing it in six months. The City Council will discuss the idea at a 7 p.m. meeting Wednesday at City Hall.
Adams said other options exist, such as having the city purchase its own equipment and taping the meetings, but some cities that have tried that have had problems with personnel and maintenance.
It would cost the city at least $100,000 for a cable hookup to City Hall and to install the equipment needed to broadcast meetings live, Adams said.
