PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AFC : Hostetler, Hoskins Cleared to Return

Quarterback Jeff Hostetler and strong safety Derrick Hoskins will be able to play for the Oakland Raiders on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hostetler had been awaiting final medical clearance after fracturing cartilage in his throat three weeks ago at Denver.

Hoskins has a strained his groin but improved enough this week to be removed from the injury list.

Nickel back James Trapp, sidelined for two weeks because of a sprained knee, was upgraded from questionable to probable. The Raiders are still concerned about free safety Eddie Anderson (pulled hamstring). Coach Mike White said rookie Joe King will start in Anderson’s place.

The Maryland Stadium Authority is reportedly negotiating with several teams to bring an NFL team to Baltimore.

WBAL-TV in Baltimore reported that the Cleveland Browns have a handshake deal to move to the city.

Brown owner Art Modell was evasive, saying, “I don’t want to get into that. Let the Baltimore people talk about that. Maybe, maybe not, I don’t know.”

WBAL-TV reported that five other teams--Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, Arizona, Seattle or New England--are also interested in the move.

The station also reported NFL owners plan to vote next week to guarantee Baltimore a team, even though John Moag, chairman of the stadium authority, has asked that the vote be delayed.
