SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Breeders Classics Championship tonight at Los Alamitos promises to be one of the best programs of the meet, featuring the Grade I Breeders Championship Classic, the Grade II Breeders Juvenile Classic and eight other quarter horse stakes races.

In the $32,500 Breeders Juvenile Classic, the ninth race on the 14-race card, Chicks Slew Of Bux, trained by Chuck Treece, will be looking for his third stakes win and fifth victory in six career starts.

But he will face tough competition from Dutch Masters III’s Reckless Roula, who recently finished second in the $850,000 Texas Classic Futurity at Trinity Meadows in Willow Park, Tex. The remainder of the field for the Breeders Juvenile Classic includes Dashetta Go, Who Darted, Wickedly, Shus A Flyin, Moody Blue Miss, Jet Settin Alibi, Jettin For Royalty and Feathering.

Vessels Stallion Farm’s Meter Me Gone is among early favorites for the $76,500 Breeders Championship Classic, the 10th race. A runner-up in both the Vandy’s Flash Handicap and AQHA California Challenge Championship, he won the All American Derby at Ruidoso Downs earlier this year to qualify for the Champion of Champions.

The 3-year-old colt will be ridden by veteran Kenny Hart. Challenging Meter Me Gone will be Pies Royal Request, Mongoose Effort, The Royal Prince, First Hi Hope, Lil Bita Brunch, The Incredible Dash and Ib Quick.
