Missing Woman Found Unharmed

An elderly Woodland Hills woman who had been missing for two days was found tired and hungry but otherwise unharmed Sunday by a police officer patrolling in a Santa Monica alley, police said.

Elaine Ann Pedroski, 71, who had walked away from her daughter while they were visiting in Santa Monica on Friday afternoon, was found near 15th Court at about 5 p.m. Sunday. Despite suffering from occasional memory loss, Pedroski often went on walks by herself.

Santa Monica Police Sgt. Patrick Armstrong said officers rushed Pedroski to the station and gave her a meal before returning her to relatives.

The Police Department had released photos of the woman and put officers on alert to watch for her on their patrols.

Other than her being “tired and very hungry,” Armstrong said Pedroski was fine. However, the sergeant said the woman could not remember what she had done for the two days or where she had been.

“She really couldn’t talk,” Armstrong said. “She was a bit feeble, but she knew she wanted to go home.”
