Westside : RED FLAG ALERT
When hot, dry Santa Ana winds blow across Malibu, county fire officials plan to activate a new safety program aimed at keeping wildfires from getting out of hand.
During days of extreme fire danger, officials will enact a “Red Flag Alert,” deploying additional public safety officers to hillside communities, said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Greg Cleveland.
He said that if the pilot program is successful, it will be expanded to other locations in the county.
