Westside : Woman Dies in Crash With Patrol Car
A Beverly Hills woman was fatally injured Friday when her car was hit by a Santa Monica police car responding to an emergency call.
Dorothea A. Steichen, 64, died of undisclosed injuries at St. John’s Hospital and Medical Center shortly after the 9:28 a.m. crash. She was the sole occupant of the car.
Officer Collin Smith was examined at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and released with no injuries, a hospital spokesman said.
Smith was eastbound on Colorado Boulevard in Santa Monica, responding to a radio call with lights and siren on when the collision occurred at Colorado and 26th Street, said Sgt. Gary Gallinot.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating, Gallinot said.
