Thousand Oaks police are investigating a crash that left a 9-year-old boy severely injured Thursday evening when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car driven by a 17-year-old Thousand Oaks girl.
The bicycle had no lights and the boy wore no helmet when he attempted to ride across Avenida de las Flores west of Greta Street, police said. He was thrown from his bike and later transported to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
Authorities would not reveal the extent of the Thousand Oaks youngster’s injuries, but police say he recovered consciousness at the hospital late Thursday.
The driver of the car was uninjured, police said. Authorities would not identify the driver or the cyclist because they are minors.
