ANAHEIM : Council to Consider Relocating Post Office
- Share via
As part of its campaign to renovate central Anaheim, the City Council today will consider a plan under which the U.S. Postal Service would close its aging post office on West Broadway and replace it with a new facility in the Koll Anaheim Center.
Under the proposal, the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency would acquire the current post office property at 311 W. Broadway and give the Postal Service a site at Clementine Street and Broadway.
The agency also would pay the costs of designing and building the new post office, projected at $1.2 million. Construction would begin in the spring.
Among other items on the council agenda are:
* An agreement with the Anaheim City School District for the city to use a $5,000 federal grant to provide an after-school recreation program at Paul Revere and Paul Lane elementary schools.
* A public hearing on a request by the owners of Mr. J’s to allow a public dance hall at the restaurant and cocktail lounge. The Planning Commission previously denied the request.
The council meets at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
