Obituaries : * Paul McArdle; Former Dean at Cal Lutheran
Paul McArdle, former dean of the Cal Lutheran University School of Education, died of a heart attack Friday at his home in Jane Lew, W. Va. He was 59.
McArdle, who was born Aug. 5, 1936, in New York City, was appointed to his position as dean at Cal Lutheran in 1991. He stepped down from the post in August so he could teach and write.
He had been on sabbatical in West Virginia since August and was to have returned to the Thousand Oaks university to teach in January.
McArdle had previously been professor of education and chairman of the education department at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
McArdle is survived by two daughters, one son and a grandson who was born the night before his death. A private memorial service was held in West Virginia on Monday.
A special memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 2 at Cal Lutheran’s Samuelson Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the unrestricted scholarship fund at Cal Lutheran University.
