Central Los Angeles : FIGHTING DRUGS

Share

A group of South-Central Los Angeles residents and an organization called FALCON formed an anti-drug group Thursday, the 12th since the project began five years ago.

The Hooper Avenue neighborhood Community Impact Team will work with FALCON to report drug dealing and gang activity in a 21-block area bounded by Washington and Adams boulevards, and Central Avenue and Compton Boulevard.

The FALCON task force is headed by Los Angeles police, prosecutors from the city attorney’s office and building inspectors.

“The real key to the success of this neighborhood block project, and all the others we have undertaken in the city, is restoring neighborhood pride and galvanizing the residents to retake their neighborhoods from the criminal elements,” City Attorney Jim Hahn said.

Since 1991, FALCON has taken action against 854 problem properties citywide.
