Pro Football Spotlight : L.A. Benched / Week 12 : He Just Wants Football Fans to Have Some Fun
Fred Rosen, president of Ticketmaster, remains the ambassador of good will, greeting anyone with an idea, checkbook or plan that would bring professional football back to Los Angeles.
“I want my kids to know the joy of going to a football game on Sunday,” Rosen said. “Ultimately this is about fun.”
Rosen, Mayor Richard Riordan’s appointed leader of Football LA, said football will return here, but “this is a marathon, not a sprint. It will take three to four years to get done.”
Rosen, 51, has met with NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, and said, “The NFL has advised us that all existing stadiums here are not acceptable. They have indicated the condition for bringing a team here will be the construction of a state-of-the-art football stadium. We’re different than other cities. We don’t have to prove we’re an NFL city; what we have to show is that we can get a stadium built.”
