Paul, the King of Big Screen, has become the prince of La Habra.

Businessman Paul Goldenberg has donated $30,000 to the city with no strings attached.

Goldenberg, owner of the Paul’s TV chain of electronics stores, appears in radio, TV and print advertisements in which he proclaims himself “the king of big-screen TV” in Southern California.

City officials who accepted the gift said Tuesday that they will use the money for much-needed police and paramedic units.

City Manager Jerry L. Bankston said that $25,000 of the donation will go for emergency service and response programs, and the remaining $5,000 to community resource programs.

Bankston said that Goldenberg, a La Habra resident, made the donation as a gesture of thanks for the support he has received during 30 years of running his business in the city.

“It’s an extremely gracious and a very meaningful gift,” Bankston said.
