LAKE FOREST — A man broke into the home of a Lake Forest woman early Thursday morning and threw her Thanksgiving turkey into her garage and began destroying her plates and glasses, officials said.
Bonnie Duff, 45, was awakened by loud noises about 3:15 a.m. to discover the intruder, and then fled through her front door to summon police, Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Rich Paddock said.
Deputies surrounded the house and found a man destroying Duff’s dinnerware, Paddock said.
The suspect had kicked open a side garage door to get into the house, investigators said.
“For some reason, he had thrown her turkey into the garage,” Paddock said. “Needless to say, this put a damper on this poor woman’s Thanksgiving.”
Leonell T. Brito, 25, of Lake Forest was subdued with pepper spray before being arrested and charged with breaking into a residence, Paddock said.
Brito and a deputy were treated at a hospital for minor injuries. Brito was booked into Orange County Jail, Paddock said.
