PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AFC : Seahawk Owner Eyes Cleveland
The majority owner of the Seattle Seahawks warned that he might move his NFL team to another city if it doesn’t get a new stadium, and he said Cleveland was among the cities to offer a new home.
“Now Cleveland is offering the same as Baltimore gave to the Cleveland Browns,” Ken Behring said, without going into specifics.
Nancy Lesic, a spokeswoman for Cleveland Mayor Michael R. White, said Thursday that was “absurd.”
“The mayor said it’s absolutely untrue that the city has made an offer, and he has had no contact with anyone in Seattle,” she said.
Behring said the club lost $5 million to $6 million last year, mainly because of a lack of stadium-generated revenue.
