‘That’s Entertainment III’

This 1994 release is the third showy tribute to the flabbergasting MGM musicals that emphasizes how delightful the genre was and how extinct it’s become. As the last installment it benefits from the extra work Bud Friedgen and Michael J. Sheridan had to do to avoid repetition. Digging into the Metro vaults they came up with musical items from less familiar films (the 1946 “Till the Clouds Roll By,” pictured). Also included are irresistible behind-the-scenes material--for example, an in-house film showing just how complex the logistics were in Eleanor Powell’s “Fascinatin’ Rhythm” number from “Lady Be Good”--and, best of all, outtakes (KCET Saturday at 9:30 p.m.).
