Cocaine Reportedly Seized on U.S. Plane
Nearly 40 pounds of cocaine were discovered aboard an American Airlines jet scheduled to depart from Bogota’s international airport for Miami, the El Tiempo newspaper reported Monday.
It said the drug, packed into the fingers of rubber gloves that had been enclosed in 13 blocks of brown sugar, was discovered by police Saturday behind the walls of a bathroom on the jet.
On the same flight, according to El Tiempo, a 52-year-old woman attempting to board was discovered to be wearing “diaper-like” underpants stuffed with heroin. False bottoms in the woman’s two suitcases also turned out to be filled with heroin, the newspaper said.
