Man Hit Five Times in Drive-By Shooting Is in Fair Condition

A man struck by five bullets outside a supermarket Wednesday afternoon in a gang-related attack survived in fair condition, police said.

Sergio Lopez, 24, of Santa Ana was walking into a supermarket at Bristol Street and Memory Lane about 2 p.m. when a gunshots were sprayed from a passing vehicle, Police Sgt. Richard Murg said.

Lopez collapsed inside the store, police said. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.

“He was shot in each extremity and in the abdomen, and not one vital organ was hit,” said Nancy Rahomberg, the hospital supervising nurse.

No one has been arrested.
