Supervisors to Discuss City Partnership Plan

Share

Ventura County and its 10 cities would form a partnership to work together on economic development under a proposal being considered by the Board of Supervisors.

The supervisors Tuesday will discuss approving in concept the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County.

The collaborative’s primary mission would be to market the county as a good business location by promoting assets, such as the port, through advertising campaigns, officials said. It also would be used to secure grants for economic development and to provide loans to businesses looking to expand.

The collaborative would have a 23-member board of directors that would include representatives from each of the county’s 10 cities as well as two supervisors and up to 11 business representatives.

General membership would be available to individuals, businesses and community organizations. Membership dues have yet to be established.

Other details regarding management and administration of grants are still being worked out.
