Two men suspected of kidnaping a 27-month-old girl Thursday morning and demanding a ransom were arrested later in the day as they tried to pick up the money, police said.

The toddler, Hannah Greenberg, was returned to her mother unharmed, police said.

Salvador Hernandez Galvan, 28, of Bellflower and Alfonso Lopez Sanchez, 28, a transient were booked on suspicion of kidnaping for ransom. They were being held on $500,000 bail.

The suspects allegedly forced their way into a mid-Wilshire apartment about 11 a.m., tied up the baby-sitter and abducted the girl, police said. Later, the girl’s parents received a phone call making a ransom demand and they agreed to exchange about $10,000 for their child, detectives said.

Police said they staked out the place where the exchange was to have taken place.

“They brought the money to the drop-off point at about 5:30 p.m. and the exchange was made,” Police Lt. Jim Grayson said. “The child was fine and the suspects were taken into custody a safe distance from the exchange site.”

The family told police that Salvador Galvan had once worked for them as a painter.
