Northridge : CSUN Recycling Event Will Begin Today

Looking for a place to dump that old couch? Beginning today, Cal State Northridge will offer San Fernando Valley residents an opportunity to unload unneeded items during its fourth annual holiday donation drive.
Sponsored by CSUN’s recycling program, Goodwill Industries and the University Corp., the nine-day event will offer two campus collection sites: Lindley Avenue and Lassen Street and another within the Matador bookstore complex, recycling coordinator Cyndi Signett said.
A Goodwill attendant will staff the Lindley drop-off site from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily to issue tax receipts for each donation, she said. Smaller items may be donated at the bookstore.
The goal, Signett explained, is to encourage people to recycle old furniture, clothing, blankets, toys and tools instead of simply throwing them away.
“We hope they won’t throw things in the trash,” she said. “I see a lot of that in my own neighborhood.”
The drive will end Dec. 10. For more information, call (818) 885-2477.
