COSTA MESA : Mesa Water District Engineer to Leave Post

Share

Gene Watson, district engineer for Mesa Consolidated Water District, said Friday that he has resigned to pursue consulting opportunities in Northern California.

“The timing is right,” said Watson, 61, adding that his wife recently took a job in the San Francisco area.

Watson and other water district officials have been the targets of criticism from some community activists who have complained about the construction and operation of the district’s new reservoir.

“I am not leaving for any other reason than that the work I came down to do is done,” Watson said. “This is the best organization I have worked for, and I will always consider it a feather in my cap.”

Watson joined Mesa Consolidated as district engineer in 1988.

He will leave his post the first week of January.
