Goaltender Dave Littman led the Ice Dogs to a 5-0 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals at the Sports Arena on Saturday, but he didn’t want to get too excited.

“It’s satisfying, but that’s because if you have a shutout, you know you won,” Littman said. “I didn’t think about it until the final buzzer.”

It was the 12th career shutout of Littman, who faced 28 shots, and the first for the Ice Dogs.

Tracy Egeland scored two goals and Jim Nesich had three assists for the Ice Dogs, who remain in third place in the IHL’s Southwest Division.

It was the third consecutive home victory for the Ice Dogs, 13-9-2, whose attendance has been more than 4,500 for seven consecutive games. Saturday they played in front of an announced 4,966.

Egeland’s backhand score 2 1/2 minutes into the game seemed to spark the Ice Dogs. He and Nesich teamed up again at 8:28 to give the Ice Dogs a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Nesich’s third assist came in the second period on Mark Krys’ goal from point-blank range.

Patrick Augusta had an assist on Wayne Strachan’s goal that gave the Ice Dogs a 4-0 lead at 4:25 in the third period and Augusta scored the final goal on a power-play goal after taking a pass from Rick Cirone.
