Countywide : Supervisor Flynn Files for 6th Term
Ventura County Supervisor John K. Flynn has filed his nomination papers to run for a sixth term, representing a district that includes Oxnard and surrounding beach areas.
Flynn, 62, filed his papers with the county registrar’s office Monday, the official opening of the filing period to run for countywide office. The last day to register to run is Dec. 29.
Flynn is one of three supervisors whose seats will be up for election in March.
Supervisor Susan K. Lacey, who has announced that she will seek a fifth term, had not yet filed her nomination papers late Tuesday. Supervisor Maggie Kildee has said she plans to retire next year.
Flynn, said he is involved in too many projects, from lobbying to protect the county’s two Navy bases to building a gymnasium in El Rio, to quit now.
Oxnard resident Arlene Fraser, who lost a bid to unseat Flynn in 1992, so far is the only candidate to file to run against Flynn in the March 26 primary.
