SEPARATE WAYS: Much has been made of an alleged political alliance between Supervisors Roger R. Stanton (District 1) and Jim Silva (District 2), which critics now derisively refer to together as “District 12.” But recently, the two have disagreed on amendments to the proposed county charter and how best to sell landfills. . . . After another divided vote this week, Stanton turned to Silva and asked: “What ever happened to that myth?” Silva quickly responded: “It’s gone.”

ANGEL TRADITION: Third baseman Tim Wallach has joined a not-so-select group by signing with the Angels. The former Cal State Fullerton star isn’t the first to wear Dodger and Angel uniforms. . . . Players who have called Anaheim and Dodger stadiums home include Frank Robinson, Andy Messersmith, Tommy Davis, Willie Davis and Fernando Valenzuela. A few former Dodgers and Angels are even up for consideration for the Hall of Fame: pitchers Don Sutton, Jerry Reuss and Tommy John and first baseman Bill Buckner.

JUNK GURU: Are your closets packed with decades worth of National Geographics, every letter you ever received, souvenirs from every trip you ever took? Then you’re a pack rat, but that’s not so bad, says psychotherapist Rosalie Kfoury. She’s speaking on the subject tonight at Newport Beach Central Library. . . . “Those of us who are over 50 were raised in a time when there was a shortage of goods,” she says. “So you saved stuff.” Her approach: “I try to make it less of a sin and more of a joke.”

PAPER CHASE: Even governments can be pack rats. The city of La Palma has decided to clean house. The City Council has approved a formula for ridding city government of outdated or useless paperwork. . . . “It’s a records-management program that eliminates the pack-rat syndrome,” says Assistant City Manager Brigitte Charles.
