Two men suspected of robbing a local Great Western Savings bank branch of about $3,000 were quickly arrested Thursday in Los Angeles, police said.

A robber entered the bank, in the 16100 block of Beach Boulevard, about 2 p.m. Thursday and slipped a note to the teller demanding cash. The clerk complied, and the robber escaped in a car driven by another man, police said.

An Orange County sheriff’s deputy later spotted the suspects on the Artesia Freeway and pulled them over at Cherry Avenue. They were arrested without incident. The cash and a loaded handgun were recovered from the car, police said.
