Why Him and Not Me?

The front-page article on Andy Kindler (“He’s Not Pulling Any Punch Lines,” Calendar, Dec. 5) seems to suggest the show-biz gadfly has a great publicist--especially for a still largely unknown comic. After all, I’ve been in show business for decades and I’ve never had a front-page Calendar article written about me . . . yet!

Usually, only performers who are currently working locally get articles written about them. Was this some sort of paid advertisement? If so, send your rates and give me the name of whom to call, and I’ll give career notes of what I’m doing right now--nightclubs, movies, voice-overs, four appearances on “The Tonight Show” in the past two weeks, performing in the Debbie Reynolds Hotel in Las Vegas--and still going strong.
