Norm Stewart moved past John Wooden into eighth place on the NCAA Division I career coaching victory list as No. 11 Missouri beat Jackson State, 86-63, Saturday night.

It was the 665th victory of Stewart’s career. He has 320 losses and a winning percentage of .675 in 35 seasons. Wooden compiled a 664-162 record and .804 winning percentage in 29 seasons.

Missouri (5-1) won the game with the help of a 28-7 advantage in free throws.

Jackson State (1-5) shot 38% from the field, but had its problems long before the game.

The team left Jackson, Miss., at midnight Thursday for the bus ride to Columbia. The bus got stuck in a snowstorm, turned off course and ended up three hours away from Columbia in Springfield.
