Ice Dogs Lose This Shootout
The Ice Dogs, in their second shootout in as many nights, fell, 2-1, to the Chicago Wolves in their International Hockey League game Saturday night.
The Ice Dogs had defeated Minnesota, 6-5, in a shootout Friday.
Todd Gillingham, Los Angeles’ leadoff man in the shootout against Chicago, was the only Ice Dog to score against Wolves goalie Wendall Young.
Chicago’s Dan Currie and Doug Barrault each slipped one past rookie goalie Chuck Thuss to give the Wolves a 2-1 advantage and two points for the victory.
Todd Gillingham scored Los Angeles’ only goal 57 seconds into the game, with Dan Lambert and Darcy Martini getting assists. Thuss and the Ice Dogs then shut out the Wolves until Brian Wiseman scored on a power play to tie it with 7:06 left to play.
Thuss stopped 25 of 26 shots.
