NBA ROUNDUP : Abdul-Rauf Leads Nuggets to Fifth Consecutive Victory

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf had 22 points and 10 assists and Bryant Stith had 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists Monday night as the Denver Nuggets cruised to their fifth consecutive victory, 104-91, over the Philadelphia 76ers at Philadelphia.

Jerry Stackhouse had 20 points and Clarence Weatherspoon added 18 for Philadelphia, which lost for the 14th time in 15 games.

Philadelphia held an 11-point lead early in the second quarter, but Stith and Abdul-Rauf led a 29-11 spurt and Denver held a 53-46 halftime lead.

The Sixers closed to within 83-75 with 9:51 left, but the Nuggets went on a 16-5 run and took a 99-80 lead on a jumper by Abdul-Rauf with 3:02 to play.

Utah 110, Charlotte 100--Karl Malone scored 24 points and Chris Morris added 22 as the Jazz used a 10-1 run in the third quarter for the victory at Salt Lake City.

The Hornets were led by Glen Rice with 19 points and Darrin Hancock 16.

Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning suffered a partial tear of a tendon in his left foot during a weekend victory over Phoenix and could be out up to three weeks. . . . Seattle forward Detlef Schrempf has broken a bone below his left knee and will be out six weeks. . . . Jamal Mashburn, the leading scorer for the Dallas Mavericks, will be sidelined two to three weeks because of a sore left knee.
