Sun Valley : Police Link Man to 60 Camera Thefts

A 37-year-old Sun Valley man arrested by Los Angeles police is linked to more than 60 thefts of professional video cameras across North America worth more than $4 million, police said Tuesday.

Enrique Horacio Villarreal was arrested Monday by police and FBI agents, who found Villarreal in possession of a video camera that had been stolen in West Hollywood over the weekend, LAPD Det. Mike Woodings said.

Video arrest--The suspect in a story Wednesday about stolen video cameras was misidentified. The suspect is Enrique Horacio Villarreal of Sun Valley. Villarreal was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property. Details were provided by a statement signed by LAPD Det. Mike Woodings.

Woodings was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property and is being held on a felony warrant from Austin, Texas, where he allegedly assaulted a police officer who was trying to apprehend him during an attempted camera theft at a television station, Woodings said.

Villarreal’s thefts have ranged from Los Angeles to Canada to Louisiana, Woodings said.
