VENTURA : Local Groups Benefit From Holiday Ball
The Ventura chapter of the National Charity League raised about $10,000 at its holiday fund-raising ball to donate to philanthropic organizations.
About 400 people attended Saturday night’s event, which was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Ventura, said Sue Butler, Ventura chapter president.
The money, raised through ticket sales to the ball and a silent auction, will be donated to organizations that include Project Understanding, Easter Seals, Douglas Penfield School For Ortho Handicapped and the Assistance League’s preschool and girls’ club, Butler said.
The National Charity League is a volunteer group made up of mothers and daughters who volunteer 20 to 30 hours per year at a philanthropic organization and organize fund-raisers such as Saturday’s dance.
