San Gabriel Valley : HEARING FOR MAYOR
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for today in a child battery and spousal abuse case involving La Puente Mayor Lou Perez.
A Rio Hondo Municipal Court judge Thursday ordered the hearing moved to Los Angeles because he said most judges in the El Monte courthouse know Perez personally or professionally.
The mayor, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, was arrested Nov. 12 at his home after his wife called the Sheriff’s Department to request that deputies intervene in a family dispute.
A Los Angeles Municipal Court judge is expected to rule on Perez’s request to seal all court and police documents relating to the case. . . .
