Fluor Daniel Wins Contract for Indonesia Oil Refinery

Fluor Daniel Corp. said Tuesday it has been awarded a $465-million contract to upgrade a refinery for Indonesia’s state-owned oil company, Pertamina, and to add a lubricant oil complex.

Fluor Daniel’s Petroleum and Petrochemicals operating company will provide engineering and procurement services aimed at increasing production at the existing Cilacap refinery. Fluor Daniel will also construct the lube oil complex.

Engineering is underway in Irvine and Jakarta, with construction scheduled to begin early next year. About 2,500 Indonesian craftsmen will be involved in the construction effort. Many were trained by Irvine-based Fluor Daniel during the construction of a refinery in 1981, company officials said.
