GOP TARGET: The 24th Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Tony Beilenson is looking good to the Republicans. The party this week listed it as one of five in the state ripe for plucking in November (A3). The inclusion of the 24th is no surprise. It was drawn as a swing district. . . . Republican businessman Richard Sybert, who lost to Beilenson last time out, is running again.

NO TALKING HEADS: Will Santa Clarita residents tune in to their City Council via C-SPAN? The council approved $175,000 for use in cameras and state-of-the-art equipment to broadcast council meetings. City Administrator Steve Stark says the new cameras will allow for close-ups and panoramic views, instead of tiny talking heads as can be seen now. That will “alleviate residential concerns that the council members appear too small on their television screens.”
