WOULD DAD APPROVE? Richard Nixon was Walt Disney’s frequent guest in Disneyland’s early days. Tuesday, Disney’s daughter, Diane Disney Miller, expressed regret to Nixon daughters Julie and Tricia that the Walt Disney Co. is responsible for Oliver Stone’s “Nixon.” . . . The movie--which opens at 13 Orange County screens today--is “a disturbing distortion of history,” Miller wrote them. “I am ashamed that the company my father created is associated with it.”

NO STALLONE/STONE: Local attorney Donald Segretti, convicted of Watergate-era “dirty tricks” 20 years ago, bowed out of a judge’s race this month because he feared a media hounding on Watergate. He did agree to a media request that he preview “Nixon” today and report his impressions. But then he backed off--mainly because his wife, Liza, nixed the idea. . . . She explains: “I don’t see Sylvester Stallone movies, I don’t see Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. And I don’t see Oliver Stone movies. I think Stone is demented.”

MUSIC’S FEEL: Miss America 1995, Heather Whitestone, has found enthusiastic audiences for her two ballet performances in the “Glory of Christmas” at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. When she returns tonight and Thursday, interpreters will be in the audience for hearing-impaired fans who see her as a role model. . . . How does Whitestone, who has been deaf since a baby, follow the music? Says the show’s spokeswoman: “She can feel the music’s beat, and she follows the cues from her partner.”

LATER THAN EVER: It’s happening again--only it’s worse, says U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman Terri Buffiou: People in Orange County are waiting until the last minute to send their Christmas packages. “There’s an illusion of having more time because there’s a weekend before Christmas Day,” she says. . . . Christmas, by the way, is not the heaviest mail delivery period. That’s in the fall, when stores send out their catalogs and mailers getting shoppers ready for Christmas.
