IRVINE — Multimedia company Graphix Zone Inc. has released 120,000 specialized musical soundtracks from the movie “Nixon” in conjunction with Wednesday’s premiere of the Oliver Stone film.
The Irvine company has teamed with Cinergi Pictures Entertainment Inc. and Walt Disney Co.’s Hollywood/Illusion Records to market the product in music and computer stores.
The “enhanced CD” has two potential uses. In audio units, the 13 cuts from the film’s soundtrack can be heard in standard compact disc form. In CD-ROM hard drives, the laser discs can play the soundtrack as well as produce screen images that include an interview with Stone, scenes from the movie set, and biographies of the actors.
In October, Graphix Zone signed Stone to help produce an interactive CD-ROM that will take users into the Nixon-era White House. The interactive disc, using images from the Stone film and documents from government and university archives, is scheduled to be released March 26.
