Seniors : Achievements, activities : HUNTINGTON BEACH : Elks Donates $3,300 in Food Certificates
The Huntington Beach Elks Lodge, Post 1959, has donated food certificates valued at $3,300 to the Seniors’ Outreach Center to help the city’s homebound elderly.
Elks members, many of whom also volunteer at the center, organized the project after seeing firsthand some of the needs of the seniors.
The certificates were given to the homebound elderly who are being assisted by the center. Social workers assessed and determined the needs of the seniors and presented the certificates during their visits.
Among the services and programs of the outreach center are meal delivery, transportation assistance, peer counseling and help with home maintenance.
