HUNTINGTON BEACH : 8 Students Sought for Exchange Program

Share

The Sister City Assn. is seeking eight students and two chaperons for its student exchange program with Huntington Beach sister cities of Anjo, Japan, and Waitakere, New Zealand.

Four students and one chaperon will travel as ambassadors of Huntington Beach to one of the sister cities for a two-week visit.

The exchange program begins in July, when local students will host four Anjo students. Then in August, the Huntington Beach students will travel to Japan and spend two weeks in Anjo with the students they hosted here.

The other four local students selected will visit New Zealand in late August and host Waitakere students in late April 1997.

Students interested in the program must be in 7th through 11th grades at the time of the exchange.

There are no academic requirements, but students must have an interest in learning about a foreign culture.

Chaperons must live or work in the city and organizers prefer that they have experience working with junior high and high school students.

The Sister City Assn. pays a portion of travel expenses for both students and chaperons.

Applications are available at Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave. Information: Gisela Campagna, (714) 960-8836.
