Not All Deaths Are Linked to Danger
This is in response to “Is Your Home a Danger Zone?” (Dec. 14). I am a real estate agent, but I am also a widow whose husband died in our home after a lingering illness. I strongly object to Bettijane Levine’s listing this in the same category as when rape, murder, robbery and crime [have happened in a house].
Many people with a terminal illness cannot be helped at the end by being in a hospital and most, like my husband, ask only that they be allowed to die in the security and comfort of their home.
I have every intention of disclosing that my husband died in our home, but I also defend his right to make that choice. And I cannot imagine that it will possibly pose any “danger” for any future occupants.
