SIMI VALLEY : Siphoned Gasoline Ignites Garage Fire
- Share via
The garage of a Simi Valley home was gutted by fire after someone siphoning fuel from a car spilled gasoline onto the concrete floor and the mixture caught fire, investigators said Wednesday.
Firefighters were called to the home at 1560 Kane Ave. about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, after the fire engulfed the vehicle and burned most of the garage, officials said.
No one was hurt in the blaze, which caused $15,000 in damage to the home and another $20,000 in lost property. It was extinguished by 11:55 p.m.
A spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department said the fire was started when gasoline being siphoned out of the vehicle dripped too close to a water heater.
