ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : The Rains of ’69
Some of Orange County’s worst flooding was in February 1969. More than 21 inches of rain fell, causing $10 million in damages.
Heavy rains caused homes to slide down hillsides in Silverado and Modjeska canyons. Five people seeking shelter at the Silverado Canyon fire station died when a hillside above the building gave way.
