South Bay : REWARD OFFERED

Share

The family of a woman who was slain in an armed robbery attempt at a Gardena liquor store is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer or killers. Chong S. Lee, 60, was shot several times at the Casino Liquor store on Western Avenue at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15.

One of the suspects is described as a thinly built, black teenager about 5 feet, 8 inches tall; the second is also a black teenager, about 5-foot-9, medium build, who was wearing a floppy, wide-brimmed brown hat, a brown striped shirt and tan pants.

Lee and her husband had won a million-dollar lottery ticket a couple of years ago, but had to sell it for a fraction of its value to pay medical bills and continued working in their store.

“We’re offering the reward because we don’t want this to happen to another family,” said Lee’s daughter, Sumi Lee. “We don’t want anyone else to experience this tragedy.”

Anyone with information about the case can contact Det. Pamela Robinson at the Gardena Police Department at (310) 217-9623.
